Steampunk

More later...

" I see the dopeness in everything, and you just see the wackness. "

" Its the summer of 1994, and the streets of New York are pulsing with hip hop and wafting with the sweet aroma of marijuana. The newly-inaugurated mayor, Rudolph Giuliani, is only beginning to implement his anti-fun initiatives against crimes like noisy portable radio, graffiti and public drunkenness.

The Wackness centers upon a troubled high school student named Luke Shapiro (Josh Peck)a teenage pot dealer who forms a friendship with Dr. Jeffrey Squires (Ben Kingsley), a psychiatrist and kindred lost soul. When the doctor proposes Luke trade him weed for therapy sessions, the two begin to explore both New York City and their own depression.

Propelled by an exuberant hip hop score, The Wackness captures the spell of 1994--a time of pagers, not cell phones; a time when Tupac and Biggie were alive but Kurt Cobain had just died. Funny and moving, The Wackness is an offbeat tale of two lost souls stumbling towards maturity. " -Imdb description.

The Life Before Her Eyes

I just finished a great book by Laura Kasischke, called The Life Before Her Eyes. And now they have made a movie of it starring Evan Rachel Wood, Uma Thurman, and Eva Amurri. I love Eva Amurri and Uma Thurman, so I definitely want to see this.

" They're in the girl's room when they hear they first dot-dot-dot of semi-automatic gunfire. It sounds phony and far away, and they keep doing what they're doing-brushing their hair, looking at their reflections in the mirror...
Dot-dot-dot. "

" Is this a pregnant superhero? "

Yes, yes it is.

Failure to Launch

Has anyone seen Failure to Launch? It was a decent movie, but the highlight was Zooey Deschanel, and her amazing outfits. And also Riley, from National Treasure.

Kit: I smell something. Do you smell something?
Paula: Oh, Tripp and I had crab today.
Kit: No, that's not it. I smell... fun.
Paula: What?
Kit: You are a dirty little fun-haver.

Kit: Well, everyone at work went to TGI Fridays, but I don't really like that place. Or anyone that I work with.

Kit: Good news. It's Champagne Thursday.
Paula: It's Friday.
Kit: Uh, yeah, it came twice this week.
Paula: For the third straight week.
Kit: There's talk of making it permanent.
Paula: Oh, kind of like Daylight Saving's Time?
Kit: Right, but for booze.

The Craftiness 2

Now I just need to get something white...
